About

Why Nonprofits Tech Guide exists

Nonprofits are asked to do a lot. There is always more to do than there are people or hours to do it, and the budget rarely keeps up with the need. In that environment, choosing the right technology should not feel like a second job.

But it often does. Most nonprofits do not have a dedicated IT team or an operations lead whose only focus is software. The people making technology decisions are the same people running programs, managing donors, writing grants, and coordinating volunteers. Researching, comparing, and choosing tools takes time they do not have.

Nonprofits Tech Guide exists to do that research so you do not have to. We organize and explain the technology choices that matter most to small and mid-sized organizations. Our goal is straightforward: help nonprofits make confident, practical decisions without the confusion, the overspending, or the hours lost to vendor comparisons.

Technology should reduce friction, not create more of it. When nonprofits spend less time managing tools, they have more time to do the work they care about. That is what we are here to support.

Our principles

  • Recommendations are always free to read. We will never paywall our core picks.
  • Affiliate links may exist, but they never influence our rankings.
  • We write for small teams with real budgets, not enterprise feature lists.
  • We update regularly and tell you when things change and why.
  • We are transparent about our methodology and editorial process.

How we stay independent

Every recommendation on this site follows the same evaluation criteria. We do not accept payment from vendors in exchange for rankings, and sponsorship does not affect our picks.

What we evaluate

  • CostWhat does it actually cost a small nonprofit? Are there hidden fees, per-seat charges, or nonprofit discounts?
  • Nonprofit fitDoes the vendor offer nonprofit pricing, easy onboarding, or features designed for organizations with a social mission?
  • Workflow fitDoes this tool work the way small teams actually operate, without requiring a dedicated admin?
  • IntegrationsDoes it connect to the other tools nonprofits commonly use, like donor databases, email platforms, and accounting software?
  • ReliabilityIs the company stable? Is the product actively maintained and supported?

Independence disclosure

  • Some links on this site may be affiliate links. We earn a small commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you.
  • Recommendations remain fully independent. Affiliate relationships never influence which tools we recommend or how we rank them.
  • Sponsorship and advertising do not affect rankings or editorial decisions.
  • Recommendations are reviewed and updated regularly. When something changes, we explain why.
